Guide · updated 2026States with no asset test for Medicare Savings Programs
14 states plus D.C. have eliminated the asset (savings) test. In these states, only your income counts toward the Medicare Savings Programs — your savings won't disqualify you.
Many people assume their savings make them ineligible and never apply. In these states that barrier is gone. (Everywhere else, your home and one car still never count, and limits are higher than most people expect.)
